Welcome to The Gainsborough Foundation

The Gainsborough Foundation’s work began in Cambridgeshire at the Rainbow Surgery in Ramsey during the summer of 2007. It is now a fully equipped, efficient, medically supported service that all concerned can be proud of. The service has spread to Ramsey Health Centre (RHC)  which is equally represented patient wise, and where their medical support is also splendid.

In July 2011 we began working from 5 extra surgeries;

Acorn Surgery in Huntingdon

Priory Fields in Huntingdon

Charles Hicks in Huntingdon

Roman Gate in Godmanchester

The Old Exchange in St Ives, Huntingdn

The service is aimed at:

Fully blown alcoholics where abstinence is the only way forward usually beginning with detoxification.

Patients who have self-presented (or referred by GP) who are abusing alcohol; their lives (and those near-and-dear to them TN&D) are unstable as a result, but are clearly (to us) not alcoholic. (This is a new sector we refer to as the Intervention Group).

Young people brought to us by worried parents, teachers, group leaders etc who are consuming large amounts of alcohol (some as much as a bottle of cider per day) aged between (9-16 years). (New group we see as the next generation of addicts, but with current worrying issues).

Those near-and-dear (TN&D) (New group of family, friends etc,  in need of support, education and guidance). This group form the nucleus of the GF Network, access to which is through an appointed committee.
